Goodbye Amber-Mae, We'll Miss You Very Dearly!

Hi Amber's blogger friends.. This is Melissa. I'm here to share some very, very sad news with you all. Amber-Mae got very sick a week ago & for the last 3 days, she went downhill very fast. She had no more strength, she could no longer stand up, she could no longer pass motion, she could no longer eat, she could no longer breath properly.. she was suffering from multi-organ failure due to her liver bleeding out inside of her. So, my family & I have decided to end her suffering last night. We invited a vet over to our home, a vet that Amber is so used to seeing for the past few years. He's a gentle, nice man. The entire family surrounded her including her son & daughter, River & Megan, her sisters Chloe, Faith & Bun. We all surrounded her while the vet helped her to go into a deep sleep. She left us peacefully exactly at 10:00 pm on the 23rd of November 2013. We are all still in tears & we all miss her so much. I kept back some of her fur just so that I can have a part of her to hold, touch, feel & smell. Her ashes will be back tomorrow. I can't wait to have her home again. I love you Amber-Mae & I miss you SO much!!!

  18. Melissa,

Such sad news to read when your blog popped up on my side bar. I am heart-broken for you and know all too well that awful sense of loss since my Jakey left for the Bridge two months ago, leaving a huge hole in our hearts. I hope the wonderful memories of sweet Amber Mae will help fill that hole for you and you'll treasure the time spent together.

I am so behind, but I just wanted to let you know how terribly sad we are to hear about Amber-Mae! I remember those pictures you submitted a couple of years ago of all the dogs in that big pool, cooling off! The one picture I'm thinking of is one of my all time favorite dog pictures ever. All the pups looked so happy and like they were loving life. I know that Amber-Mae was well-loved and it's great that you were able to have a vet she was comfortable with come out to your house and help her with that final journey. Lots of love and hugs to you all!

  29. As usual, I am very far behind on my blog visits. Was stunned to read the news about Amber-Mae. Words can't describe how one feels about their first Golden, that special light that takes you by surprise, then burns out all to soon. Suffice to say; I know exactly how you feel. You put together a beautiful video tribute, Amber-Mae would be proud. Fly free sweet girl. She has lots of distinguished Golden company at the bridge.
